All parents and caregivers need support and guidance as children grow and develop. We all know that children don’t come with instruction manuals and many times parents find themselves at a loss as children enter new stages of development. Columbia County Family Center’s Active Parenting sessions provide parents and caregivers with the necessary skills, knowledge and support needed to help them successfully navigate their children through the ever changing phases of life. Parenting class instructors guide parents and caregivers through the Active Parenting 4th Edition curriculum and equip them with the resources that they need to raise safe, healthy and responsible children.

Active parenting sessions will teach parents and caregivers effective ways to…

  • use nonviolent discipline that really works
  • open up lines of communication—before they get clogged
  • teach responsibility, courage, and other important character traits
  • encourage school success
  • prevent future problems with drugs, alcohol, and sex
  • defuse power struggles with your children
  • stimulate independence as your child grows older
  • stop scolding and start smiling with your kids again!

Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, all parenting classes are currently being offered virtually, on a one on one basis through the Zoom platform. Parents and caregivers wishing to enroll in classes must have consistent and stable internet access.
